ITINERARY

Cai Be Floating Market Day trip

Cai be floating market tour: Start the day early (around 0700am) for an excursion to Cai Be in the Mekong Delta; known as the country’s ‘rice-basket’. Embark on a 3.5-hour drive with ever-changing views – from the rapidly developing Saigon city to the peaceful delta. On arrival, board the charming Mekong Queen, a wooden motorized boat, to explore life and agriculture on the river. The first stop is the bustling Cai Be floating market, filled with a number of boats bursting with fruits, vegetables, and other products along the river banks. Traders have lived on the river in their boats for generations. After another 20-minute cruise, get off your boat and enjoy a 10-min walk on a narrow lane near the river.
A family-run longan (a local fruit) drying processing factory is an optional stop.  Have lunch at an ancient Mandarin house where four generations of family members are living together. After a lunch filled with Mekong Delta specialties, you can also take a stroll around the orchard to learn how it contributes to the family’s livelihood. Either walk or take a rowing sampan back to the Mekong Queen. Cruise back to the boat docking station with a stop en route at a brick factory. Return to Saigon.
